The Toccoa House Properties Difference

As a wedding venue in Blue Ridge for couples in Davie, FL, Toccoa House Properties is simply magical, where the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains meets the country-chic vibes of modern Appalachia. It has a distinctly custom-built feel, and for good reason. Nearly every inch of the property - from the luxurious cabins within walking distance of one another to the heated pool and more - was purpose-built for exceptional events, like weddings in Blue Ridge.

It all started when Oregonian Greg Spencer initially discovered the Blue Ridge area on a backpacking trip to the Cohutta Wilderness in the 1980s. A short time later, enamored of the area, Greg embarked on a land-purchasing mission that led him to 17 acres of undeveloped acreage. Amazed by the beauty of the Toccoa River and the inspiring views of the surrounding mountains, Greg wasted no time in securing what is now known as Toccoa House Properties.

Today, Toccoa House Properties exists as a one-of-a-kind, highly sought-after event space and wedding venue. As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in putting on fairytale weddings for you and your guests. In fact, our unique location and commitment to personalized wedding services are what separate us from other wedding venues in North Georgia.

Simply put, we aren't afraid to go "above and beyond" for wedding clients. If you need assistance or advice, you can rest easy knowing that our team will answer your calls - not an automated answering machine or third-party service.

step-one

Choose Your Style of Wedding

When selecting a venue for your wedding, it's important to take into account the overall look and atmosphere you wish to achieve. Your chosen wedding style will determine which venues are most suitable for you and your partner.

Some popular styles to consider may include:

  • Traditional
  • Whimsical
  • Romantic
  • Rustic
  • Fantasy

Pick a Wedding Date and List of Wedding Venue Choices

What time of the year do you want to get married? Once you have an idea of a season, like fall or spring, come up with a list of potential of wedding venues in Blue Ridge, GA, like Toccoa House Properties.

Keep in mind the following:

  • Guest Count
  • Wedding Budget
  • Wedding Style
 Indoor Reception Areas Davie, FL
step-three

Schedule a Tour

One of the most important steps involved in choosing a wedding venue is to tour the space. Don't be afraid to ask pertinent questions. If the venue manager seems like they have better things to do than answer your questions, look elsewhere.

Make sure you take into account:

  • Size of Wedding Venue
  • Ambiance of Wedding Venue
  • Layout of Wedding Venue
 Davie, FL
step-four

Consider Services and Amenities

Once you narrow down your wedding venue choices, consider the amenities and services the venue offers. Be sure to weigh what they offer against your needs and budget to further narrow down your choices.

Consider services and amenities such as:

  • Lodging
  • Ceremony and Reception Space
  • Seating
  • Day-Of Coordinator

step-five

Determine the Location of Your Wedding Venue

If you think your guests will hate a particular wedding venue location, why consider it in the first place? Choosing a destination - like Toccoa House Properties - that is within a short driving distance of grocery stores and restaurants is almost always better than a hard-to-access venue.

 Onsite Wedding Chapel Davie, FL
step-six

Check Out Wedding Venue Reviews

Do yourself a favor and check out the wedding venue's Google reviews and reviews on other platforms. You can also ask for opinions from people you trust, like friends and family members. Don't be afraid to reach out directly to people who have used the wedding venue previously. A wedding venue in Blue Ridge for couples in Davie, FL, should be excited to show you their online reviews. If you notice a disparaging review, try asking the owner of the wedding venue to explain their side of the story before writing them off completely.

step-seven

Compare Wedding Venues and Choose

Try coming up with a list of pros and cons of each wedding venue that you're considering. Doing so can help you whittle your list down to one or two choices. Remember to trust your gut throughout this process. If you've come down to two choices, and something about one of the venues rubbed you the wrong way, it's probably for a reason.

Features to consider when choosing your wedding venue may include:

  • Location
  • Amenities
  • Price
  • Reviews
  • Tour
  • Lodging
  • Accessibility
  • Attractiveness of Wedding Venue
 Wedding Packages Davie, FL

Confirm and Plan

Once you've settled on a wedding venue, it's time to book! As most wedding venues will tell you, try booking your venue at least a year before your wedding is set to take place. Doing so will give you plenty of time to plan. If you need help preparing, don't be afraid to work with a professional wedding planner to make your life easier.

Some items to plan for may include:

  • DJs or Entertainment
  • Caterers
  • Decorations
  • Attractions
  • Bridal Showers
  • Bachelor Parties
  • Post-Wedding Parties

DAVIE, FLA. (WSVN) - An elderly Broward County resident is speaking out days after a powerful storm that hit South Florida caused so much flooding that the water completely surrounded his home.

Speaking with 7News on Saturday, 97-year-old Dick Postelwaite showed 7News just how high the floodwaters rose outside his home located in a neighborhood off Hiatus Road.

“Came up to this corner right here, all the way up,” he said as he stood next to a hose.

When asked if those were the highest water levels he’s ever seen outside his home, he replied. “Yeah.”

Postelwaite has lived in the same house since 1963, adding his neighborhood used to be a fruit orchard.

Back then, he said, the farmer had pumps to move the water out when it rained.

But those pumps are long gone, so when it rains now, his street resembles a lake.

“Ever since that time, we haven’t had any controlled water system. This is Mother Nature,” he said. “Mother Nature gets a little angry when it gets dumped on.”

Much of South Florida got drenched by the unnamed store back on Wednesday. Davie saw some of the worst of it.

7News cameras captured Postelwaite standing outside his house on Friday. The water was too high for the crew to reach him.

“This is the fourth time this has happened,” he told the 7News crew.

The water was still high outside his home on Saturday, but at least it’s drivable.

When asked when the floodwaters started creeping up on him, Postelwaite replied, “Immediately.”

He said he was mostly worried about his 98-year-old wife. Thank fully, they’re both fine.

Just across the street from Postelwaite, Ingrid Korkkanem and her family are building their dream home. She said they’re definitely worried about the water.

“Very concerned. It’s only two days of rain and, as you can tell, it’s terrible,” she said.

Pumps are running now, and the floodwaters are slowly receding.

“When you have that much water, it’s hard to move it,” said Postelwaite. “You’ve got a problem.”

Postelwaite served in World War II and the Korean War. After going through something like that, he said, this past week’s flooding is no big deal.

An Amber Alert for 8-month-old girl in Broward County was cancelled after she was found safe, according to Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Why did I get an Amber Alert today?

An Amber Alert was previously issued in Florida on Wednesday morning for 8-month-old girl in Broward County.

According to the alert, Amelia Martinez was last seen near SW 148 Avenue in Davie. It also noted that the child may be in the company of 34-year-old Davie resident, Arys Martinez.

Amelia has brown hair and brown eyes.

What is an Amber Alert?

An Amber Alert, or a child abduction emergency alert, is a message distributed by a child abduction alert system to ask the public for help in finding abducted children. AMBER is a backronym standing for "America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response."

Why is it called AMBER Alert?Florida’s Amber Alert system: What to know about state’s plan when a child goes missing

What is the Florida AMBER Plan?

According to the state's website, the Florida Amber Plan is an Alert that is "issued through radio, television, highway Dynamic Message Signs, lottery machines, missingchildrenalert.com, and other resources that have been made available when a child abduction occurs."

The plan is meant to alert the public in a much broader scope than just the immediate area of the abduction.

How does Florida's Amber Alert process work?

Per the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the investigating local law enforcement agency will contact the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse.

The abducted child's information is taken over the phone. It is decided by the local law enforcement agency and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement what information is to be broadcasted and the areas in which to broadcast.

How is an Amber Alert activated in Florida?

There are five criteria that have to be met before an Amber alert can be issued in Florida:

Didn't get the alert? How do I sign up for Amber Alerts?

If an alert is active in your area, it should automatically appear on your phone. You can also sign up for social media accounts that will notify you when an Amber Alert is issued:

What should I do if I spot a missing child from an alert?

According to SafeTee, experts said that if you have found a lost child, take action and don't hesitate to help. Once you walk up, introduce yourself and get on their level so they feel safe.

Once the child is comfortable and you might have asked a few questions on if they're OK, they suggest calling authorities and alerting them that you found the child. It's important not to move the child too far from where they were originally found.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) - Davie Albarran, 51, a fugitive featured on America’s Most Wanted, was arrested in Florida on Sunday and his daughters helped law enforcement look for him.

Davie Albarran was arrested in Polk County, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. He had warrants out for his arrest in Osceola County, Florida, for sexual battery on a child under 12 and lewd conduct with a child under 12. He also has failed to pay child support in an unrelated case out of Orange County, Florida.

“Thanks to our deputies and K9 Kreed, we got him last night,” Judd said on Facebook on Monday.

Judd said a Polk County Sheriff’s Office team led by Deputy Lee and K9 Kreed helped take Davie Albarran into custody, who at the time of his capture allegedly told authorities that his name was Jose.

Davie Albarran’s daughters, Ana and Yaneiry Albarran have been active on social media with claims of what their father has allegedly done. They shared tips with authorities, which led to his arrest.

Ana Albarran told America’s Most Wanted that after posting on social media about her father, she was “flooded with DMs” from others who alleged that they had been abused by Davie Albarran.

“Please share and paint the city with his face. My father Davie Albarran is a pedo, he’s on the run and the cops are looking for him,” she said in a December 2022 Facebook post.

Ana Albarran has updated that post saying that at least 12 alleged victims have come forward.

In December 2022, America’s Most Wanted featured Davie Albarran. His daughters were featured in another episode on Feb. 12.

Yaneiry Albarran told America’s Most Wanted that it all started when she got a phone call from her sister and was told that her niece had said that Davie Albarran had been sexually abusing her for the last few months.

“My heart dropped. I was devastated. My dad was my best friend and I couldn’t believe he did that,” she said.

Albarran is in custody at the Polk County Jail, according to jail records. He is expected to be extradited to Osceola County.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. - A man featured on FOX's America's Most Wanted has been captured after stepping foot inside Polk County, Sheriff Grady Judd announced Monday.

Davie Albarran, who had a warrant for his arrest in Osceola County for sexual battery on a child under 12 and lewd conduct with a child under 12, was taken into custody in Lakeland on Sunday night, Judd said. The 51-year-old was featured in 2022 on the revived FOX show.

Albarran's adult daughters were the two who shared tips to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, which ultimately led to his arrest.

"We normally don't give up who the tipsters are, but since they've outed themselves, then we don't mind confirming that," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said during an interview on Good Day Orlando on Tuesday.

'America's Most Wanted' suspect caught in Florida

A man featured on FOX's America's Most Wanted has been captured after stepping foot inside Polk County, Sheriff Grady Judd announced Monday.

One of Albarran's daughters created a social media post with claims of what her father allegedly did to her back in December 2022.

"Please share and paint the city with his face. My father Davie Albarran is a pedo, he's on the run and the cops are looking for him," she said.

Sheriff Marcos Lopez said at the time that other victims came forward with similar stories.

"Well, he made a mistake," Judd said. "(America's Most Wanted) ran him all over the nation and he came to Lakeland. When he came to Lakeland, we received confidential information. They said, ‘Hey, we know where this dude is.’ So we snuck around Sunday night just before midnight in a backyard in Country Haven Drive. Well, it might have been Country Haven Drive, but it was no ‘haven’ for him."

Judd said a Polk County Sheriff's Office team led by Deputy Lee and K9 Kreed helped take Albarran into custody – who at the time of his capture allegedly told deputies that his name was Jose.

"Out of all the places in the world he could have gone, Lakeland was the wrong one," Judd said.

Judd added that Albarran has also failed to pay child support in an unrelated case out of Orange County.

"Anytime you sexually batter a child under 12 years of age and there's two warrants for two different events, it doesn't get any worse than that," Judd said on Good Day Orlando. "He's a pedophile. He's a child molester. He's the worst of the worst, and I applaud his adult daughters for working with us to capture him."

Albarran will be transferred back to Osceola County in the next few days where he'll stand trial.
