The Toccoa House Properties Difference

As a wedding venue in Blue Ridge for couples in Lauderhill, FL, Toccoa House Properties is simply magical, where the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains meets the country-chic vibes of modern Appalachia. It has a distinctly custom-built feel, and for good reason. Nearly every inch of the property - from the luxurious cabins within walking distance of one another to the heated pool and more - was purpose-built for exceptional events, like weddings in Blue Ridge.

It all started when Oregonian Greg Spencer initially discovered the Blue Ridge area on a backpacking trip to the Cohutta Wilderness in the 1980s. A short time later, enamored of the area, Greg embarked on a land-purchasing mission that led him to 17 acres of undeveloped acreage. Amazed by the beauty of the Toccoa River and the inspiring views of the surrounding mountains, Greg wasted no time in securing what is now known as Toccoa House Properties.

Today, Toccoa House Properties exists as a one-of-a-kind, highly sought-after event space and wedding venue. As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in putting on fairytale weddings for you and your guests. In fact, our unique location and commitment to personalized wedding services are what separate us from other wedding venues in North Georgia.

Simply put, we aren't afraid to go "above and beyond" for wedding clients. If you need assistance or advice, you can rest easy knowing that our team will answer your calls - not an automated answering machine or third-party service.

Pick a Wedding Date and List of Wedding Venue Choices

What time of the year do you want to get married? Once you have an idea of a season, like fall or spring, come up with a list of potential of wedding venues in Blue Ridge, GA, like Toccoa House Properties.

Keep in mind the following:

  • Guest Count
  • Wedding Budget
  • Wedding Style

step-three

Schedule a Tour

One of the most important steps involved in choosing a wedding venue is to tour the space. Don't be afraid to ask pertinent questions. If the venue manager seems like they have better things to do than answer your questions, look elsewhere.

Make sure you take into account:

  • Size of Wedding Venue
  • Ambiance of Wedding Venue
  • Layout of Wedding Venue
 Lauderhill, FL
step-four

Consider Services and Amenities

Once you narrow down your wedding venue choices, consider the amenities and services the venue offers. Be sure to weigh what they offer against your needs and budget to further narrow down your choices.

Consider services and amenities such as:

  • Lodging
  • Ceremony and Reception Space
  • Seating

step-five

Determine the Location of Your Wedding Venue

If you think your guests will hate a particular wedding venue location, why consider it in the first place? Choosing a destination - like Toccoa House Properties - that is within a short driving distance of grocery stores and restaurants is almost always better than a hard-to-access venue.

step-six

Check Out Wedding Venue Reviews

Do yourself a favor and check out the wedding venue's Google reviews and reviews on other platforms. You can also ask for opinions from people you trust, like friends and family members. Don't be afraid to reach out directly to people who have used the wedding venue previously. A wedding venue in Blue Ridge for couples in Lauderhill, FL, should be excited to show you their online reviews. If you notice a disparaging review, try asking the owner of the wedding venue to explain their side of the story before writing them off completely.

step-seven

Compare Wedding Venues and Choose

Try coming up with a list of pros and cons of each wedding venue that you're considering. Doing so can help you whittle your list down to one or two choices. Remember to trust your gut throughout this process. If you've come down to two choices, and something about one of the venues rubbed you the wrong way, it's probably for a reason.

Features to consider when choosing your wedding venue may include:

  • Location
  • Amenities
  • Price
  • Reviews
  • Tour
  • Lodging
  • Accessibility
  • Attractiveness of Wedding Venue
 Wedding Packages Lauderhill, FL
step-eight

Confirm and Plan

Once you've settled on a wedding venue, it's time to book! As most wedding venues will tell you, try booking your venue at least a year before your wedding is set to take place. Doing so will give you plenty of time to plan. If you need help preparing, don't be afraid to work with a professional wedding planner to make your life easier.

Some items to plan for may include:

  • DJs or Entertainment
  • Caterers
  • Decorations
  • Attractions
  • Bridal Showers
  • Bachelor Parties
  • Post-Wedding Parties

With a win in the third T20I earlier in the week, Team India kept the ongoing five-match T20I series alive against the hosts, the West Indies. The caravan now moves to the United States, where the two teams will fight for the fourth and fifth T20Is.

The upcoming fourth T20I is scheduled to be hosted by the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida, on Saturday, August 12.

Situated on the eastern coast of Florida, the track at Lauderhill often aids the batters with true bounce. Batters from both the teams will be eager to stamp their authority at the venue.

So far, Team India have played six T20 internationals at the venue, winning four and losing just once. One game in 2016 ended in a no-result.

The last time India played a T20I in Florida was in August 2022. Just like this year, the stadium hosted the last two T20Is of the five-match series last year as well.

Both the T20Is were won by the visitors, finishing the series with a 4-1 scoreline. The last T20I saw India win the encounter by 88 runs - the largest T20I victory by runs remaining at Lauderhill.

After opting to bat first, the visitors piled up a healthy first-innings total of 188/7. Top-order batters in Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Hooda did the bulk of the scoring. While Iyer smashed his highest T20I score against the West Indies, reaching a 40-ball 64, Hooda hammered two sixes en route to his 25-ball 38.

Hardik Pandya also provided some finishing touches with a 16-ball 28. Odean Smith was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.

In reply, the West Indies put up a horror show with the bat, getting dismissed for only 100 runs in 15.4 overs. Axar Patel wreaked havoc with his left-arm spin as he bagged three wickets inside the powerplay. Shimron Hetmyer was the lone warrior for his side, scoring a half-century.

Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav were also phenomenal as the duo took seven wickets between them. As many as eight West Indian batters made only a single-digit score.

Axar was adjudged the Player of the Match for killing the game in his very first spell of 3/15, which included one maiden over as well.

Can Shubman Gill regain his form in the remaining two T20Is?

India's batting sensation Shubman Gill started 2023 with a bang. He scored hundreds for fun for India and even hit three tons in the IPL 2023 season.

However, post-IPL 2023, Gill has underperformed massively. While he did notch up a half-century in the third ODI against the West Indies in Trinidad, Gill has been deprived of runs in the shortest format.

In the ongoing T20I series, the Indian opener has only scored 16 runs at a dismal average of 5.33. India would hope that the talented right-hander fires on all cylinders in the forthcoming game.

A great batting surface at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida might just be what Gill needs to regain his class.

The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach Consumer Price Index for April 2024 is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. (ET).

The Consumer Price Index for Miami is published bi-monthly. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a measure of the average change in prices over time in a fixed market basket of goods and services. The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes CPIs for two population groups: (1) a CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) which covers approximately 93 percent of the total U.S. population and (2) a CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) which covers approximately 29 percent of the total U.S. population. The CPI-U includes, in addition to wage earners and clerical workers, groups such as professional, managerial, and technical workers, the self-employed, short-term workers, the unemployed, and retirees and others not in the labor force.

The CPI is based on prices of food, clothing, shelter, fuels, transportation fares, charges for doctors' and dentists' services, drugs, and the other goods and services that people buy for day-to-day living. Each month, prices are collected in 75 urban areas across the country from about 6,000 housing units and approximately 22,000 retail establishments—department stores, supermarkets, hospitals, filling stations, and other types of stores and service establishments. All taxes directly associated with the purchase and use of items are included in the index.

The index measures price changes from a designated reference date; for most of the CPI-U the reference base is 1982-84 equals 100. An increase of 7 percent from the reference base, for example, is shown as 107.000. Alternatively, that relationship can also be expressed as the price of a base period market basket of goods and services rising from $100 to $107. For further details see the CPI home page on the internet at www.bls.gov/cpi and the CPI section of the BLS Handbook of Methods available on the internet at www.bls.gov/opub/hom/cpi/.

In calculating the index, price changes for the various items in each location are averaged together with weights that represent their importance in the spending of the appropriate population group. Local data are then combined to obtain a U.S. city average. Because the sample size of a local area is smaller, the local area index is subject to substantially more sampling and other measurement error than the national index. In addition, local indexes are not adjusted for seasonal influences. As a result, local area indexes show greater volatility than the national index, although their long-term trends are quite similar. NOTE: Area indexes do not measure differences in the level of prices between cities; they only measure the average change in prices for each area since the base period.

The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, FL Core Based Statistical Area is comprised of Broward County, Miami-Dade County, and Palm Beach County.

Information in this release will be made available to individuals with sensory impairments upon request. Voice phone: (202) 691-5200; Telecommunications Relay Service: 7-1-1.

Deerfield Beach knows how to party. And as homegrown watering holes and dive bars leave the Bohemian town’s beachside main drag left and right, Cove Brewery has arrived just west of the Intracoastal bridge. Beyond its staple Paddle Out pilsner and Heat Wave American wheat beer with a citrus kick, the brewery regularly host food truck collabs to complement its brews.

From its story to its tacos, it’s hard to not love Talkin’ Tacos. What started as a pandemic-era food truck started by two buddies in Miami has emerged into a rapidly-growing operation now with six Florida locations. Its Coral Springs outpost has quickly become a local go-to, with its carne asada and bang bang shrimp tacos being top orders.

A little bit of Louisiana has arrived in Pompano Beach thanks to South Bar & Kitchen. Tucked in the town’s “Old Town” area – a stone’s throw from Bailey Contemporary Arts – its vibe is sultry with green velvet booths and gold-trimmed lights. Its fare is equally alluring, like a BLT made with pork belly and the Boudin Balls, croquettes stuffed with cajun roasted pork and topped with pepper jelly.

Call this under-the-radar, a hidden gem, or whatever similar saying you want, but you can get gooey homemade cookies for $2.50 a pop (or three for $6) at this Oakland Park shop. Options include the ginger and molasses-loaded Ginger Dream and the Death By Chocolate, which includes a stout beer base and heaps of Dutch Cocoa Chocolate. Pair your cookie(s) with a pour over coffee, made from beans that the owner sources directly from Colombia, Burundi, and other locals.

The likes of T. Swift, the Biebs, and even Barack Obama love Emilio’s Ballato in NYC. The executive chef and partner of that spot, Anthony Vitolo, has opened this Italian gem at Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach to much fanfare. Order the Vitello Antonio, a center-cut veal chop that easily feeds two, topped with a hearty vodka sauce, crispy prosciutto, and sweet peas. Life will never be the same.

Chef Ryan Ratino has racked up Michelin stars for Jont and Bresca in D.C. Well, he has another star in its own right on Fort Lauderdale Beach with this wood-fired, Japanese/European-infused spot. Nosh on a foie gras macaron or go big with a 32-ounce dry-aged ribeye topped with a kickin’ peppercorn sauce.

Open and airy, this two-level spot in the heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale strikes the right balance of laid-back and lux. Visual highlights include a wine wall, a vertical garden, and gold-trimmed accents. Its menu is pretty golden, too, anchored by its steak bites (marinated sirloin nuggets with a perky horseradish sauce) and tuna sushi stack with seasoned prawn crackers.

Fun fact: This is the second oldest house in all of Fort Lauderdale (only the Stranahan House is older). This historic Downtown Fort Lauderdale spot tucked on the shores of the New River opened in May 2023 under the helm of chef Aedian Reid. His modern take on classic dishes includes a pita-crusted salmon with tangy dill as well as a shrimp and crab squid ink tagliatelle smothered in roasted tomatoes.

This spot is a welcome, nearby distraction from Las Olas Boulevard’s oversaturation of Italian spots. Boasting an Italian-meets-Mediterranean menu, its five-course tasting menu dazzles with homemade tortelli, a curry-dashed grouper, and duck along the way.

The food scene in Hallandale Beach is heating up. Case-and-point, this Argentine restaurant is made of shipping containers. The fare at KAO Bar and Grill is as colorful as its vibe, with murals by artist Falopapas and dishes spanning Patagonian lamb to a 12-ounce grilled branzino.

The tornado formed over land and touched down just west of Las Olas and the Intracoastal Waterway just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

Authorities said the tornado made contact with some structures, power lines and marine vessels in that immediate area, before appearing to move quickly to the east until it reached the ocean -- no longer impacting land or the Intracoastal.

On social media, multiple observers posted cellphone video of a tornado moving over the water on Fort Lauderdale Beach, taken from various angles.

The National Weather Service sent a tornado alert around 5:45 p.m. and saw reports and radar indicating that the tornado was spotted near Federal Highway and Las Olas Boulevard.

Local 10 viewers reported seeing power flashes and heavy winds in the area.

Todd Sabata sent cellphone video to Local 10 News of the tornado hurling east of downtown Fort Lauderdale.

No injuries have been reported due to the storm as of Sunday morning.

A Local 10 News crew was in Fort Lauderdale for the aftermath of the storm where trees were down in some areas, but it didn’t appear as if there was any major damage caused by the tornado.

Fire rescue crews told Local 10 News they were assessing damage in the area, which appeared to be minor.

A Local 10 viewer captured video of a fence blown out with a downed powerline and a massive uprooted tree near Southeast 25th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

Fort Lauderdale officials advised people to be cautious of debris and downed power lines.

It is unclear how many people were suffering from power outages due to the tornado.

Earlier this evening, at just before 6 pm, the City of Fort Lauderdale experienced a tornado that formed over land and touched down just west of Las Olas, near the intracoastal waterway. As this tornado gained strength, it made contact with some structures, power lines, and…

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Family and friends joined first responders to give a hero’s welcome — and a heartfelt sendoff — to a true South Florida trailblazer.

A grateful community held a celebration on Saturday for Bobby Glenn, Fort Lauderdale and Broward County’s first Black firefighter.

“Super excited and proud just to be here and have him here and everyone here to represent him,” said Jasmine Lawson, Glenn’s granddaughter.

The retired first responder, who now lives in a hospice care center, spoke with 7News earlier this year alongside Lawson, who said he inspired her to become a firefighter.

During the earlier interview, Glenn said his journey wasn’t easy but was nevertheless worthwhile.

“They didn’t have any Blacks and didn’t have any females on the department,” he said. “It was kind of an uphill grind. It wasn’t an easy task at that time.”

Thanks to help from his comrades, Glenn was able to get back home on Saturday for a cookout in his honor.

“Thank you for your service,” an attendee said as a firefighter wheeled Glenn into his home.

“I would like to say thanks to each and every one of you for coming out. This is really a blessing,” said Glenn’s wife.

“To be able to see someone that looks like you, who grew up in a neighborhood similar to you, and see him go up the ranks is definitely impactful,” said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Lesly St. Fleur.

First responders from FLFR and Lauderhill Fire Rescue joined in on the celebration with family members, who said they were overwhelmed and thankful for this moment.

“Family and friends, and to see all these fire rescues show up in support of my dad, it is just – I’m overjoyed, I really am,” said Marquita Glenn-Kent, Glenn’s daughter.

Glenn served as a firefighter for 22 years before he retired in 1992.
