The Toccoa House Properties Difference

As a wedding venue in Blue Ridge for couples in Fayetteville, NC, Toccoa House Properties is simply magical, where the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains meets the country-chic vibes of modern Appalachia. It has a distinctly custom-built feel, and for good reason. Nearly every inch of the property - from the luxurious cabins within walking distance of one another to the heated pool and more - was purpose-built for exceptional events, like weddings in Blue Ridge.

It all started when Oregonian Greg Spencer initially discovered the Blue Ridge area on a backpacking trip to the Cohutta Wilderness in the 1980s. A short time later, enamored of the area, Greg embarked on a land-purchasing mission that led him to 17 acres of undeveloped acreage. Amazed by the beauty of the Toccoa River and the inspiring views of the surrounding mountains, Greg wasted no time in securing what is now known as Toccoa House Properties.

Today, Toccoa House Properties exists as a one-of-a-kind, highly sought-after event space and wedding venue. As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in putting on fairytale weddings for you and your guests. In fact, our unique location and commitment to personalized wedding services are what separate us from other wedding venues in North Georgia.

Simply put, we aren't afraid to go "above and beyond" for wedding clients. If you need assistance or advice, you can rest easy knowing that our team will answer your calls - not an automated answering machine or third-party service.

At the end of the day, we want your wedding to be the very best that it can be - which is why we're happy to provide some time-tested tips for selecting a location for your wedding.

step-one

Choose Your Style of Wedding

When selecting a venue for your wedding, it's important to take into account the overall look and atmosphere you wish to achieve. Your chosen wedding style will determine which venues are most suitable for you and your partner.

Some popular styles to consider may include:

  • Traditional
  • Whimsical
  • Romantic
  • Rustic
  • Fantasy

Pick a Wedding Date and List of Wedding Venue Choices

What time of the year do you want to get married? Once you have an idea of a season, like fall or spring, come up with a list of potential of wedding venues in Blue Ridge, GA, like Toccoa House Properties.

Keep in mind the following:

  • Guest Count
  • Wedding Budget
  • Wedding Style

step-three

Schedule a Tour

One of the most important steps involved in choosing a wedding venue is to tour the space. Don't be afraid to ask pertinent questions. If the venue manager seems like they have better things to do than answer your questions, look elsewhere.

Make sure you take into account:

  • Size of Wedding Venue
  • Ambiance of Wedding Venue
  • Layout of Wedding Venue

step-four

Consider Services and Amenities

Once you narrow down your wedding venue choices, consider the amenities and services the venue offers. Be sure to weigh what they offer against your needs and budget to further narrow down your choices.

Consider services and amenities such as:

  • Lodging
  • Ceremony and Reception Space
  • Seating
  • Day-Of Coordinator

step-five

Determine the Location of Your Wedding Venue

If you think your guests will hate a particular wedding venue location, why consider it in the first place? Choosing a destination - like Toccoa House Properties - that is within a short driving distance of grocery stores and restaurants is almost always better than a hard-to-access venue.

step-six

Check Out Wedding Venue Reviews

Do yourself a favor and check out the wedding venue's Google reviews and reviews on other platforms. You can also ask for opinions from people you trust, like friends and family members. Don't be afraid to reach out directly to people who have used the wedding venue previously. A wedding venue in Blue Ridge for couples in Fayetteville, NC, should be excited to show you their online reviews. If you notice a disparaging review, try asking the owner of the wedding venue to explain their side of the story before writing them off completely.

step-seven

Compare Wedding Venues and Choose

Try coming up with a list of pros and cons of each wedding venue that you're considering. Doing so can help you whittle your list down to one or two choices. Remember to trust your gut throughout this process. If you've come down to two choices, and something about one of the venues rubbed you the wrong way, it's probably for a reason.

Features to consider when choosing your wedding venue may include:

  • Location
  • Amenities
  • Price
  • Reviews
  • Tour
  • Lodging
  • Accessibility
  • Attractiveness of Wedding Venue

Confirm and Plan

Once you've settled on a wedding venue, it's time to book! As most wedding venues will tell you, try booking your venue at least a year before your wedding is set to take place. Doing so will give you plenty of time to plan. If you need help preparing, don't be afraid to work with a professional wedding planner to make your life easier.

Some items to plan for may include:

  • DJs or Entertainment
  • Caterers
  • Decorations
  • Attractions
  • Bridal Showers
  • Bachelor Parties
  • Post-Wedding Parties

A lottery player just missed a massive jackpot prize — but still scored a $1 million win in North Carolina.

The lucky person is set to get richer after buying a Mega Millions ticket that matched five of the six numbers picked in the drawing Tuesday, March 12, according to the game’s website and the N.C. Education Lottery.

The winning numbers in the drawing were: white balls 2-16-31-57-64, with gold ball 24.

The $1 million ticket, which matched all five white balls, was sold in Fayetteville through the Online Play option, a state lottery spokesperson told McClatchy News in an email.

Though the lottery player beat 1-in-12 million odds to win big, the person was one number from the larger jackpot. No one in the nation won that prize, which stood at $735 million the night of the drawing.

As of early March 13, the North Carolina player hadn’t cashed in on the $1 million prize. But the ticket holder still has time, since the lottery gives winners about six months to come forward, according to lottery rules.

Fayetteville is a roughly 60-mile drive south of Raleigh.

To score a jackpot in the Mega Millions, a player must match all five white balls and the gold Mega Ball.

The odds of scoring a jackpot prize are 1 in 302,575,350.

Tickets cost $2 and can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times vary by state.

Drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.

Fayetteville dodged a date with freezing temperatures this morning — much to the delight of early-bird gardeners.

Temperatures dipped below freezing to the north and west. The entire region should see a warm spell arrive, with highs nearing 80 degrees by Thursday.

Does winter have one more push left? Quite possibly, toward the end of the month. If not, Feb. 22 will stand as the last night we hit freezing in the city.

Here's the setup

High pressure will move from Tennessee to offshore overnight. The Cape Fear region will see brisk northwest winds today, giving way to a warmer flow by mid-week. No rain is in sight.

The setup over the Carolinas screams late-winter warmup, with plenty of sun and a light breeze. After a low in the mid- to upper 30s tonight, look for temperatures Tuesday to begin climbing. Fayetteville should see 70 on Tuesday, mid-70s on Wednesday and possibly 80 on Thursday. Lows will surge from the upper 40s to mid-50s.

This is great for outdoor activity, but misery for allergy sufferers. By Thursday, we should see another burst of pollen across the region. Maples and elm join the mix this week as Bradford pears pass their peak.

The weekend

By Friday, another system will approach the Carolinas. It's a similar-looking setup to last weekend, although for now I don't see a Saturday washout. Best rain chances appear to be on Friday afternoon and after sundown, with clearing on Saturday. Highs Friday should again be near 80, depending on clouds.

Saturday will be drier, perhaps with some lingering showers and a high near 75. Another round of showers will likely approach on Sunday, with a high in the mid-70s. Lows all weekend will stay in the mid-50s in Fayetteville.

Down the road

Another front will finally push through, bringing dry conditions and cooler temperatures next week. Temperatures look seasonal, low to mid-60s, with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s. Conditions out West favor a Carolina cooling trend toward the end of the month, but nothing to frighten gardeners — and certainly nothing to thrill snowhounds.

Have a great week!

Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, whose 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature is just one in a long list of accolades including multiple Grammys, an Oscar and a Pulitzer, makes a stop at the Crown Theatre in Fayetteville next month on his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour.

The man dubbed the "Voice of Generation" and the "Boy Bard," and who captured the spirit of the 1960s in his lyrics, appears in the city for one show on March 18, with standard ticket prices starting at $57.50 and VIP packages available from $327.50 to $677.50, according to the Crown Coliseum's website.

Dylan's music and trademark undulating vocals were the soundtrack of life during an era when the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights movement changed the fabric of the country.

His extensive discography includes hits still treasured today like 1962's "Blowin' In The Wind," 1965's "Like A Rolling Stone," and 1966's "Just Like A Woman" and “Everybody Must Get Stoned,” the latter of which bemoaned judgment from others, with music laden with harmonica and tambourine.

Now 83 years old, Dylan and His Band will make at least 22 stops — including two others in North Carolina — in the Rough and Rowdy Ways tour from March 1 to April 6, according to his website, www.bobdylan.com. The night before his Fayetteville appearance, Dylan appears at the Belk Theater in Charlotte. On March 21, he'll be in Asheville at the Harrah's Cherokee Center.

An iconic Texas-based burger chain may be making its way to Fayetteville.

Whataburger submitted plans to the city’s Technical Review Committee showing a 3,305-square-foot freestanding store at 3900 Ramsey St. with a two-lane drive-thru.

The proposed restaurant would be part of a $40 million shopping center planned by Florida-based developer Impeccable Development. The company plans to break ground on the shopping center later this year and open in the second quarter of 2026, director of real estate Rob Tanner told The Fayetteville Observer in October.

Previously:Grocery store, ‘big box’ shopping center coming to Ramsey Street. Here’s where they’ll be

Located across Ramsey Street from Ollie’s Bargain Outlet and Lowe’s, the shopping center will be anchored by a 147,583-square-foot “big-box” store and include a car service shop, a convenience store, a carwash, two restaurants and two retail stores, according to plans on file with the city's Development Services office.

Whataburger: A welcome addition

Whataburger may be a welcome addition to the city’s north commercial corridor. In a June poll from The Fayetteville Observer, the chain ranked No. 12 among restaurants, grocery stores and cuisines that Fayetteville-area residents want the most.

Wish-list restaurants:What does the Fayetteville food scene need? Top 23 chains, grocers that readers want

Founded in 1950, the fast-food chain known for its hamburgers, spicy ketchup, patty melt and Dr. Pepper milkshake has about 1,000 locations in 16 states and Washington, D.C.

Fayetteville isn’t the only city in the Tar Heel State that may soon gain a Whataburger. The chain plans to open locations near Raleigh and Charlotte along Interstate 85 in 2024, chain president and CEO Ed Nelson told The Post and Courier in November.

Whataburger did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.
